Sheila’s Endorsement of Barack Obama
This is an amazing year in our democracy. Without a doubt, one for history. So many firsts, and so much hope for the future. It has been a long journey for our nation since November 2000. We need to heal, we need to extend a hand to the world, we must towards ourselves to restore the Constitution, and protect our Democracy.
There are many issues of policy to consider. Unfortunately, Presidents of the United States rarely get to carry forward with their agenda as-is. Therefore after much consideration of both Good Democrats, which we have left standing up for the nomination, I have made my choice.
I am proud to endorse Barack Obama. It comes down to one dividing piece of experience. Barack has demonstrated the most capable chief executive ability with successive campaigns that have taken us here today, in Texas. His campaigns have not faltered. Running this successful of a political campaign takes the strongest leadership, the dearest convictions, and the best consideration of decisions. Without a doubt, Barack Obama is more often than not, the smartest person in the room. It’s time for THAT kind of change, and we need it RIGHT now.
Barack Obama wasn’t supposed to be a front runner. I believe that the success of this campaign, and his previous campaigns clearly demonstrate his excellence in command; Barack Obama has demonstrated he is the most capable candidate for the office of President of the United States.

Texas State House Race in Tarrant County Heats Up in the Press
Democrat Sheila Ford announces her official Blog - http://www.sheilaford.org/blog
Fort Worth, Texas – Recognizing the success of blogs on today’s electoral process, free speech, and their role in encouraging participation in democracy, Democrat Sheila Ford announced today the launch of her official campaign candidate blog. “Political bloggers have been leading a wave of excitement in Texas over a new political landscape. Since the days of the first primary election, a Texas caucus has never been so important to the rest of the nation. There is much outside focus directed towards Texas bloggers right now as they survey the work inside the grassroots of both Democratic campaigns.”
“It is my hope that many other Texas candidates and elected officials take to the blogosphere, and bring their message directly to the constituents in their own words.” Sheila Ford went on to comment that she is not the first Texas politician to blog online, but notes that she, along with Barbara Ann Radnofsky, attended the inaugural Texas Bloggers Caucus party at the Flying Saucer in Fort Worth, Texas during the 2006 state party convention.
As for the republican primary fight, Sheila had this to say, “I am sickened that the divisive issues brought up in a Tarrant County campaign are being financed by the Midland Republican, House Speaker Tom Craddick in a desperate attempt to hold on to waning support for his bid to maintain the Speakership. It is unfortunate to see that the disruptive nature of the District 99 house race is being backed by the big money special interests and operatives sent by Speaker Craddick. It is my hope that the politics of Austin will stay out of Tarrant County, and I believe that the people from District 99 will ultimately reject that style of campaigning by sending a direct message back to the Speaker that their interests in their government are not for sale.”
Background on Texas State House HD 99
Texas State House district 99 stretches from Interstate 30 at University, to the West and North, excluding the historic northside stockyards neighborhood, and then jutting east to I-35W up the county lines on the northern and western borders. Cities represented by District 99 include Azle, Blue Mound, Fort Worth, Haslet, Lake Worth, Lakeside, Pelican Bay, River Oaks, Saginaw, Sansom Park, Westover Hills, Westworth Village, and White Settlement.
This year’s Republican primary has been barnstormed by Midland Speaker Craddick’s political consultants, from Las Vegas and San Francisco, and with the Speaker’s fundraising resources, Television, Radio, Direct Mail, and Door to Door Direct Voter Contact are part of a comprehensive campaign effort being witnessed in this hotly contested primary.
